Housing, Transit, Art and more in Central Queens

With Laurence Frommer

This Queens neighborhood seems poised for a major comeback. It’s on the cusp of recapturing some of what was lost to postwar suburbanization. A major transportation hub has become the nexus for numerous bus, subway and suburban commuter lines and air-train to JFK International Airport. New government office buildings are to be followed by a large new entertainment and retail complex, performing arts facilities, private sector office buildings, a central headquarters for the LIRR, a new CUNY Aviation Institute at York College intended to attract numerous air transit-related businesses to the area, and the first market-rate housing in almost a century. This tour is co-sponsored by The American Planning Association New York Metro Chapter Housing & Neighborhood Revitalization Committee.
