Exploring Central Brooklyn’s District 35: A look at the area’s development, past, present and future

Janes Walk

Led By Crystal Hudson, Council Member of District 35 AND Casey Peterson

Council Member Crystal Hudson and Hester Street invite those interested in the NYC land use planning process and the future of Brooklyn’s Council District 35 on an in-person walking tour of development in Fort Greene and Clinton Hill. Participants will hear from the Council Member and other residents and advocates about how new development has reshaped their neighborhood and how we can apply lessons learned to two ongoing local land use planning processes in the district.

The walking tour will stop at housing developments under construction and recently completed, as well as the corridor of Atlantic Avenue slated for rezoning. Representatives from local civic organizations and small businesses will join to provide context about the planning processes and outcomes.

Accessibility

The length of the walking tour is about 1.5 miles over 1 hour. The walk will take place on city sidewalks which should be accessible to wheelchairs. The starting location is closest to the Franklin Av CS subway station, B25 and B26 bus station, and Citibike station at Fulton St and Irving Pl. The ending location is closest to the Dekalb Av BQR subway station, B38 bus station, and Citibike station at Dekalb and Flatbush.
