[In-person tour] Starting in Dry Dock Country, Matt Postal leads an early evening walk that ends beside the East River. He’ll discuss a group of lesser-known and modern works, including two colorful civic projects that are part of the MAS Adopt-A-Monument program: the Evangeline Blashfield Fountain, once the centerpiece of the Queensboro Bridge public market, and East River Roundabout, a dynamic spiraling 1990s sculpture by Alice Aycock. We’ll also view New York’s youngest landmark, Paul Rudolph’s Mondrian-esque Modulightor Building, classic Georgian Revival townhouses on Sutton Square that were once home to Jack Warner and I. M. Pei, and an engineering marvel, the East River Esplanade, which debuted in late 2023.
