This tour explores the financial and economic history of lower Manhattan and helps explain why New York is a world financial capital. Beginning at Bowling Green, continuing up Broadway, crossing the World Trade Center, and ending at the Tweed Courthouse, we discuss New York’s role in the world economy and explore how that role combined with the city’s local politics affected the built environment. This tour is a very popular part of a course I teach at NYU on real estate.
