Flatbush African Burial Ground

Janes Walk

Led By Shantell Jones AND Samantha Bernardine, Flatbush African Burial Ground Coalition Co Leader/FABGC

This walking tour is a return to our ancestral roots, a return to a time when we sat around the fire painting pictures with our words. This tour was designed by former FABGC lead organizer Shanna Sabio. This walking tour as a community engagement tool to raise awareness of the existence of the Flatbush African Burial Ground, and as a road map to healing the trauma that slavery has wreaked on us all.

This walking tour seeks to reclaim the stories of enslaved Africans whose labor and expertise built Brooklyn, Manhattan, and the modern world.
