Hudson Street, From Start to Finish, Part 1

In part 1 of this 2-part tour, we will explore Hudson Street, the “high street” of the far West Village, from the Meatpacking District south to Houston Street, with a few detours along the way. We will see Gansevoort Plaza, Abingdon Square, 555 Hudson Street (home from 1947 to 1968 of Jane and Robert Jacobs), St. Luke in the Fields, the exquisite block of Grove between Hudson and Bedford, St. Luke’s Place, and a lot of stuff that’s not nearly as well known as these places but every bit as interesting. Part 2 will take us from Houston Street to Hudson’s end at Chambers Street.
