In the Heights: Historic Washington Heights, from George W to Malcolm X

Janes Walk

Led By Rob Boatti

In-person, 2+ hour walking tour of one of New York’s most historic and culturally famous neighborhoods (and mostly downhill!). Highlights include Bennett Park (site of Battle of Fort Washington and the highest point in Manhattan), the United Palace Theater (one of the Loew’s “wonder theaters” from the 1930s), the Highbridge and its Water Tower, Morris-Jumel Mansion (the oldest standing residential structure in NYC), the 19th century rowhouses of Sylvan Terrace, and the Audubon Ballroom.

Accessibility

We’ll be on well-populated sidewalks and walking mostly downhill, mostly avoiding steps.

Location Information

RSVP is required and capacity is limited. Meeting location, ending location, and directions will be provided via email before walk date.
