Janes Calling is a 30-minute, virtual performance by six diverse actresses, channeling Jane Jacobs in her trademark glasses and hairstyle. Staged as a live, video conference call, the script weaves together speeches given by Ms. Jacobs over 40 years. The Janes will be sited at 6 NYC buildings currently in danger of destruction, highlighting Ms. Jacob’s ideas on big development, while drawing attention to the urgent need for historic preservation.
