Art & Language – Jenny Holzer in Context

With Sylvia Laudien-Meo

[Virtual tour] Since the 1970s Jenny Holzer has chosen language as her main medium of art, working with a variety of supports including paper and bronze, stone and LED etc. to get her messages across, addressing issues of power, military conflict, feminism and more, preferably in the public realm. The Guggenheim Museum is presenting her work in an immersive installation this summer and we will explore this exhibition, but also have a look at the artist’s public works in NYC as well as other contemporary artists who explore language and words as their medium: Lawrence Weiner, Barbara Kruger, Robert Indiana, Mel Bochner, Christopher Wool, Glenn Ligon and others. Much food for thought and a feast for the eyes!
