Legends of Long Island City

With Bob Singleton

Ask 100 people from the neighborhood who their favorite character is, and you will get 100 different answers, each with a quick story about these characters. These stories often passed down from and were told as a matter of history – making the characters legends that become an essential part of our oral and written folklore. The Legends of Long Island City are comprised of exciting people, places, and things. They give us a sense of where this community started, how it developed through the years and a look into its future. These stories ground us in the identity of people who used their talents to make this neighborhood a good place to live. Their imaginations left us a legacy Long Island City as a cradle of creativity. The book “Legends of Long Island City” will be published by Holiday Press, expected release date December 2021. Join Bob Singleton of Greater Astoria Historical Society for this virtual tour.
