MASterworks Explorations: East Midtown Greenway and Andrew Haswell Green Park Phase 2B

2024 Winner for Best New Infrastructure

This fall, MAS is celebrating design excellence in New York City with our 2024 MASterworks Awards! We have curated a selection of in person explorations and online in-conversations with this year’s honored projects.

On Sunday, October 27th from 2-3 PM, join MAS for a visit to the East Midtown Greenway and Andrew Haswell Green Park, 2024 MASterworks winner for Best New Infrastructure. Team members from Stantec Consulting, WXY Studio, and NYC EDC, including Donna Walcavage, Amy Seek, Gentry Lock, Layng Pew, Kusalee Vachananda, and Kathryn Prybylski, will take attendees around the greenway and park, which provide public access to the previously inaccessible East River waterfront. Spend your Sunday walking along the thoughtfully designed space, which features lawn areas, native plants, and artistic elements that make this project an exciting contribution to Manhattan’s public realm.

The East Midtown Waterfront project is part of a grand vision to “close the loop” of the Manhattan Waterfront Greenway, providing New Yorkers with continuous waterfront open space around Manhattan. The project fills a major gap in the Manhattan Waterfront Greenway between East 38th and East 61st Streets along the East River, providing much-desired waterfront access and open space for the East Midtown community and the public at large.
