McKim, Mead & White in Midtown

New York’s greatest architectural firm is well represented throughout the city, but nowhere may their works be studied than in ten works in midtown between 50th and 60th Streets. We’ll look at the Villard Houses, Stanford White’s portico at St. Bartholomew’s Church, McKim’s University Club, the Metropolitan Club, and others, representing the firm at the peak of its powers. We’ll also note the occasional building (such as the Peninsula Hotel) by the firm’s alumni. Please note that the tour is of building exteriors only.
