New Amsterdam: History Tour of Dutch New York

Janes Walk

Led By James Burke

Join me for a stroll through Lower Manhattan from the shoreline up to Wall Street, where you will learn about the Dutch arrival at the mouth of the Hudson River and how their settlement across NY State and NYC deeply influenced the city we live in today.

We will look at where they first set up shop on Noten Island and later on Manhattan and then walk North across the streets of New Amsterdam up to Wall Street. Hear tales on interactions with the native groups, the rowdiness of early life in the 1600s and how the colony developed up until its take over by the British in the later 1600s.
