On and Off the Avenue: Flatbush Avenue

This first in a series of tours of the entire length of Flatbush Avenue, which extends from the Manhattan Bridge to Jamaica Bay, will cover the part nearest the bridge, between Tillary Street and Atlantic Avenue. That’s only about eight blocks, but we’ll detour to explore the areas around the Brooklyn Academy of Music and MetroTech Center. Along the way we’ll witness the momentous changes overtaking downtown Brooklyn and the Vanderbilt Yards area, as well as view many a reminder of Brooklyn’s past.
