Restoring the Past, Shaping the Future: Exodus and Dance Frieze at Kingsborough Houses

Janes Walk

Led By Vaidehi Mody, Senior Planning Consultant, NYCHA

The Exodus and Dance frieze at Kingsborough Houses tells a powerful story of migration, resilience, and community through sculptural relief. This walk explores NYCHA’s recent restoration of this significant artwork, the urban fabric of the 17-acre development, and the broader history of Kingsborough Houses in East New York.

Community partners from the Fulton Art Fair and Public Housing Community Fund are invited to join and share insights on local cultural legacies and the ongoing storywalk development effort. The route includes stops at key locations within the development, highlighting the role of public art in shaping shared spaces. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended for this outdoor tour.
