WALK CANCELLED: Terrapins, Paper, Bicycles: Strange Bedfellows on Fulton Street

Janes Walk

Led By Kevin Dann, The Embryonic Arcade, Director, The Embryonic Arcade

PLEASE NOTE: THIS WALK HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

A stroll up Fulton Street from the Fish Market to Broadway traverses a triptych of exotic commercial and cultural terrains – “Terrapin Station,” the “Paper District,” and “Bicycle Row.” Via architectural details and historic maps, we’ll discover how these strange bedfellows – like Melville’s Ishmael and Queequeg – came to find themselves in such close quarters. It’s 1898 (spats and suspenders optional), but we’ll stop at some surviving shops too!
