The conventional story of Brooklyn Heights is about “New York’s first suburb” and its collection of charming homes and their wealthy owners.
On this tour we’ll explore sides of the neighborhood (working class, African-American, queer, Puerto Rican, female) that are absent from guidebooks to tell a story that doesn’t fit the neat corners of the dominant narrative.
Building history and data will reveal these stories as we walk the streets.
