Where Are the Public Bathrooms in New York City?

Janes Walk

Led By Julie Chou

Join us to learn what our public bathroom working group has been advocating for to improve NYC’s public bathroom system and to make our public realm more equitable. Meet at 550 Madison Avenue to see a new gender neutral public bathroom in a Privately Owned Public Space (POPS) and hear about our proposal to revise the zoning text amendment to require public bathroom access for POPS. Walk to Citigroup Center to see an indoor POPS bathroom. Take the M to Madison Square Park to see a fully accessible automated public toilet and hear about how we can install more of these across our city. Walk down to Union Square to see the Union Square comfort station and newly reopened subway station bathrooms. Learn about successful programs in other city and countries, and most importantly, come share your experiences and thoughts about public bathrooms!

Accessibility

Most of the talk will happen at 550 Madison and people can join us to see the other bathrooms by jumping on the M train to Madison Square Park (accessible subway station) and walking down to union square afterwards.
