Explore the unique history of former sites of Jewish religious and cultural life in the remarkable urban settlement of Harlem, which from 1870 to 1930 was the 3rd largest Jewish community in the world after Warsaw and the Lower East Side. Hear about important landmarks and legendary people who helped shape the character of Harlem and the future of Judaism in America. Visit the former sites of the Ethiopian Hebrew Congregation ( Commandment Keepers), Temple Israel ( first synagogue in Harlem), Ohab Zedek (where Cantor Rosenblatt sang – considered the King of all Cantors), and the homes of Richard Rodgers, Gertrude Berg, Houdini and Milton Berle among many others.

One and a half hour walking tour covering 10 blocks, with easy access throughout to all participants.
