The clamorous debate: environment protection vs. affordable housing; raw sewage vs. public parks; luxury towers vs. brownfields. Quietly hiding in plain site: sublime landmarks of industrial architecture. We discuss their historical importance, future plans, and some of the issues that put Gowanus on the brink of change.
