The clamorous debate: environment protection vs. affordable housing; raw sewage vs. public parks; luxury towers vs. brownfields. Quietly hiding in plain site: sublime landmarks of industrial architecture. We walk along the Canal, to see the American Can Factory, BRT Power plant, Coignet Stone, Carroll Street Bridge, Canal pumping station, and more. We discuss their historical importance, future plans, and some of the issues that put Gowanus on the brink of change.
