Floor area ratio, R8B, and POPS, oh my! Zoning is a fundamental factors that shapes the look and feel of our city. Led by urban planner George Janes, this walk honors Jane Jacobs’ advocacy of human-scale development and explains abstract land use concepts in action on the UES, focusing on zoning reforms to limit the exploitation of zoning loopholes and local projects upending longheld notions of open space contributing to overdevelopment.
