In 1997, The Bronx was designated an “All America City” by the National Civic League, signifying a huge comeback from the terrible decline of the 70s and the 80s. The anticipated revival has brought converted lofts, new affordable apartments and great restaurants, particularly on Bruckner Boulevard. This area has been heavily defined by an industrial nature in the past but now is changing rapidly. This area is expanding with local new businesses and attractive new green spaces. The New York Times chose the South Bronx as one of the 52 places to visit in 2017.
