Henry Hope Reed and the First Tour

With Francis Morrone

[Virtual] In honor of the Municipal Art Society’s 130th birthday, we’ll retrace the steps of the first MAS walking tour of April 8, 1956, with a virtual visit to Madison Square and Gramercy Park as they appeared then and as they appear 67 years later. We will also take a lingering look at the life and career of the great Henry Hope Reed, who organized and co-led the first tour, established the walking tour as a part of the city’s culture, and did so, so much more for the cause of historic preservation and, more critically, the way we all see and value New York.

For all tours, there are no refunds, cancellations, or exchanges unless we cancel a tour. Online registration closes one hour prior to the tour start time.

Registration is now closed.
