[Virtual Tour] In 2021 the Ken Smith Workshop won the AIA Merit Award of Excellence for the terrific design of the new St Pete Pier, the latest of a long list of awards for outstanding, cutting edge landscape design, much of it in New York City. One of Ken Smith’s earliest projects was the design of MoMA’s rooftop garden, as well as the restoration of the Lever House landscaping. Following the terrorist attacks on the WTC, Ken Smith designed one of the most sensitive memorials in the city, called Eleven Tears, for American Express and also submitted a proposal for the rebuilding of the tower, as part of the THINK group. The Ken Smith Workshop is involved in redesigning the East River Waterfront, but also many of the city’s urban plazas. Starting south, in St Petersburg FL, art historian Sylvia Laudien-Meo will take us on a journey through New York City to visit all of his various projects, including a little detour to California.
