MASterworks Conversations: Fountain of the Fairs Mist Garden

2022 Winner for Best New Urban Amenity

A video of this event is available on the MAS YouTube Channel.

This fall, MAS is celebrating design excellence in New York City with our 2022 MASterworks Awards! We have curated a selection of in person explorations and online in-conversations with this year’s honored projects.

On Friday, December 2nd from 11:30-12:30 PM join us for a virtual MASterworks Conversation with the project team from Fountain of the Fairs Mist Garden, 2022 MASterworks Winner for Best New Urban Amenity. The project was an exciting collaboration between the NYC Parks Department and Quennell Rothschild & Partners, an NYC-based landscape architecture firm.

During the program, we will hear from Mark Bunnell (Partner, QRP), Diane Dreier (Design Director, NYC Parks), Justin Opalka (Deputy Design Director, NYC Parks), and Meira Berkower (Chief of Staff, Queens Borough Parks). Join us for this virtual webinar highlighting this incredible urban amenity.

The garden’s exciting mist feature cools and entertains visitors of all ages, from the spring and into the early fall each year. The design preserved the perimeter granite coping of the earlier Reflecting Pool dating from the 1964 Worlds Fair, but raised the basin floor to become an accessible plaza. This spring, MAS will plan an in-person MASterworks Exploration of the garden with NYC Parks and QRP. Stay tuned for details in 2023!
