Postmodern Manhattan: Midtown/Grand Central

Late 20th Century Architecture Defines the Mid-Manhattan Skyline

With Matt Postal

From Bryant Park to Turtle Bay, we’ll consider late 20th-century skyscrapers by Charles Correa, Michael Graves, Hugh Hardy, and Helmut Jahn, architects who made sophisticated use of traditional materials and ornament during the Reagan years and after. En route, we’ll also revisit the controversies that surrounded the park’s restoration in the 1980s and the demise of the Biltmore & Commodore Hotels.
